What is CBN - AHCP?

CBN - AHCP is a high-speed internet (broadband) utility designed to provide internet service access to areas that are either unserved or underserved, though the entire area will have access to service by the completion of the initial build.  If you are a resident, business, non-profit, or institution located within our area, you will be eligible to subscribe to CBN - AHCP.

What is fiber optics?

Fiber Optics is a technology that transmits data as pulses of light offering vastly higher speeds, lower latency, and greater bandwidth than traditional copper wiring.

Fixed wireless is a high-speed internet service that delivers broadband using radio waves instead of cables. A stationary antenna is installed on the building, receiving signals from a nearby transmitter, making it ideal for rural areas, providing reliable, high-speed connectivity without needing ground-based, fiber, or DSL cables.

 

How will fiber technology improve my broadband service?

The use of a fiber network instead of slower bandwidth cables going directly to home networks provides faster internet service with increased bandwidth as well as more continuous reliable connections with much fewer outages.

 

Is CBN - AHCP a local business?

Yes! CBN - AHCP is a New York-based local business focusing on providing broadband services for locals by locals.

 

How do I know if I can receive service in my area?

The initial project will bring internet services to several multi-unit dwellings, with expansion beyond that planned for the end of 2026. Check back often to see the status of your area or call us. We’d love to hear from you!

 

What do I do if my address is not currently listed in a project or service area?

Our Primary Office Hours are 9AM-6PM, but you can call 24/7 to get connected to one of our Customer Service Representatives.

How and when will this service be offered?

The Residential Retrofit Program is designed to deliver reliable, gigabit-capable broadband infrastructure to underserved multi-dwelling buildings. This investment represents a significant step forward in expanding digital access and ensuring that residents in historically underserved areas have the connectivity necessary to participate fully in today’s digital economy.  Service installations began in March, 2026 and will continue throughout the year.

Who is paying for the build?

The build is supported by funding from The Affordable Housing Connectivity Program (AHCP).

What will the service cost?

Based on your address, fiber or fixed wireless may be available.

Fixed Wireless:

100/20 Mbps – $49.99 per month 
200/50 Mbps - $69.99 per month (where available)
500/100 Mbps - $89.99 per month (where available)

Fiber:

100/100 Mbps – $49.99 per month 

200/200 Mbps - $69.99 per month 

500/500 Mbps - $89.99 per month

1000/1000 (1GB/1GB) Mbps - $99.99 per month

Plans for households who qualify are as follows:

100/100 Mbps - $10 per month

200/200 Mbps - $20 per month

1 Gig/1 Gig Mbps - $30 per month

These rates are guaranteed for 10 years. More importantly, the customer service experience will be second to none. When you call CBN - AHCP customer service line, you will be connected with a live, locally based representative within 30 seconds.

Will there be project updates? How do we sign up?

Project updates will be readily available on the CBN - AHCP website. Updates will be provided when each building is made active allowing the residents within that site to sign-up for the service. In addition, CBN - AHCP has a "Check Availability" form that allows you to enter your address to determine if service is available now, and if not, approximately when service would be available. You may access the form by clicking on "Sign Up" on the top task bar. CBN - AHCP will be marketing its service when available through home mailings, digital and traditional advertisements, door hangers, yard signs, and through community events and organizations.

Why has CBN taken this path to expand?

As part of the AHCP, CBN - AHCP will deploy a fiber-to-the-premises network architecture within participating properties, enabling residents to access high-capacity, low-latency broadband service. The network is designed to deliver symmetrical gigabit speeds, with scalability to support future increases in demand. In addition to infrastructure improvements, the program includes a strong emphasis on digital equity, ensuring that residents have not only access to service, but also the tools and support necessary to fully benefit from connectivity. The project will include enhancements to in-building infrastructure, expanded connectivity to individual residential units, and improvements to shared spaces to support reliable internet access throughout each property. These investments are intended to create a long-term, sustainable broadband solution that meets the needs of residents today while preparing these buildings for the future.

Do I have to sign a contract?

With CBN - AHCP, residential customers pay for service month-to-month with no long-term contracts or commitments. Both the customer and CBN - AHCP have the right to cancel the service agreement with one month’s notice.

What do I do if I am having technical difficulties with my CBN - AHCP internet service?

CBN - AHCP offers 24/7 customer service, with local customer support representatives. Customers experiencing technical issues with internet services can call your local office (see locations) and expect a response and/or resolution within 24 hours. If issues cannot be resolved within 48 hours, customers will be credited with one day of service until a resolution is found.
